Ethical approval was obtained to withhold information about the intervention and primary outcome from participants during the consent process. Results: No significant difference was seen in the proportion of participants with depression in the intervention group (1/88) vs. the control group (3/76) (relative risk 0·29, 95% confidence interval 0·03–2·71) at six-months. No significant differences were seen on Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (HADS) depression and anxiety sub-scale scores, quality of life, or activities of daily living; however, many (47/100) responded positively to the postcards. Conclusions: Although this simple postcard intervention did not significantly reduce the proportion of participants experiencing high HADS depression sub-scale scores after stroke, it may be an effective way to engage with people after stroke following hospital discharge.]]> Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:37:13 AEDT ]]> Letters, green cards, telephone calls and postcards: systematic and meta-analytic review of brief contact interventions for reducing self-harm, suicide attempts and suicide https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:27563 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:23:31 AEDT ]]> Comparison of accredited person and medical officer discharge decisions under the Mental Health Act of NSW: A cohort study of deliberate self-poisoning patients https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:44730 Mon 24 Oct 2022 08:28:51 AEDT ]]> A potential role for N-acetylcysteine in the management of methamphetamine dependence (commentary) https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:27031 Mon 23 Sep 2019 12:39:49 AEST ]]> Surveillance of Hospital-Presenting Intentional Self-Harm in Western Sydney, Australia, during the Implementation of a New Self-Harm Reporting Field https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:47952 Mon 13 Feb 2023 14:00:00 AEDT ]]>
